Brighton Memorial Library Dedicates The Alice Wilson Room
The Wilson’s family and friends, members of the Library Board of Trustees, Friends and staff of Brighton Memorial Library, attended the ribbon cutting and reception. Library Board President Rose-Marie Klipstein offered a tribute to Alice Wilson, Library Executive Director Angela Bonazinga presented the special features of the room and Reference and Network Services Manager Karen Kase-McLaren demonstrated the low vision resources available in the room. A former member of the Library Board of Trustees, Alice served for many years as Treasurer of the Brighton Memorial Library Gift Fund. She was instrumental in organizing the Friends of Brighton Memorial Library and became its Treasurer and a life member. Several years ago, in recognition of her numerous contributions, Alice was selected by the Library Board to be a recipient of the Brighton Memorial Library Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. The Alice Wilson Room features the latest information technology to expand access for people who are challenged by visual impairments, learning disabilities and literacy difficulties. The Kurzweil is an easy to use screen computerized system equipped for low vision readers, equipped with audio and large print technology. The enhanced PC includes a scanner and Zoomtext, a fully integrated magnifier and screen reader. The electronic typewriter offers a professional touch keyboard and advanced typing capabilities, including text storage and correction memory. The Microform Reader/Printer provide easy browsing and printing of genealogy sources, like back issues of the Brighton Pittsford Post, the Democrat & Chronicle and local history records. The scanner allows you to scan and e-mail documents and photos.
