REGISTRATION & BORROWING INFORMATION
Photo ID and proof of current address are required. Children under age 12 need to be registered by a parent or legal guardian.

As the holder of a card issued by this or any other library in the Monroe County Library System, you are entitled to borrow items free of charge at this library. By signing your card you have agreed to be responsible for the material borrowed on your card and to abide by the rules of the member libraries. Since New York State Law protects the confidentiality of library financial and circulation records, we prefer that patrons use their own cards exclusively. For your protection, a missing or stolen card should be reported immediately.

For patrons residing outside of Monroe County, there is a charge of
$30 per year per card.

Items available for borrowing at Brighton Memorial Library include:

  • Books in regular and large print

  • Audiocassettes

  • Videocassettes

  • DVDs

  • Compact Discs

  • CD-ROMs

  • Back issues of magazines

  • Pamphlets

  • Local government documents

Books or other items designated as “reference” or with an “r” above the call number or on the spine are for in-library use only.

RENEWAL AND REPLACEMENT CARD INFORMATION
There is a charge of $1 to replace a library card; identification is required. To renew a card, your financial record must be brought to a $0 balance with all fines and fees paid in full.

LOAN INFORMATION
If fines or charges reach $5, borrowing privileges are suspended until the amount is reduced. If fines reach $35, your account is referred to a collection agency.

Audio books with 10 or more discs, which circulate for three weeks, may be extended for one extra week at the patron’s request. Special Loan Periods for vacations or extraordinary circumstances may be granted at the discretion of Library staff.

There is a charge of 50 cents for each hold placed. The hold fee is to be paid when the item is picked up. The charge will be automatically attached to your account if the item is not picked up.

Books not available through MCLS, excluding paperback fiction and books published within the last year, may be requested at the Reference Center through Inter Library Loan (ILL). A non-refundable, non-waivable charge of $5 for each request is to be paid at the time requested. Payment does not guarantee that the book will be received.

A drive-up, walk-up AV/book drop is located in the wall to the left of the entrance to the Library on the northwest corner of the building. The AV/book drop is open 24 hours a day for the return of library materials.
