Q.
May items borrowed from libraries in the Monroe County Library System be
returned to any library?
A.
You may return Monroe County Library System materials to any
Monroe County public library
unless labeling on the item indicates otherwise.
Q.
How can I place a hold on an item?
A.
You may use LIBRAWEB to hold library material by logging on to
www.libraryweb.org or you may ask a librarian to assist you.
Q.
Is there a charge to place a hold?
A.
There is a charge of 50 cents for each hold placed. The hold fee is to be
paid when the item is picked up. You will be charged the fee if you fail
to pick up the item.

Is there a limit to the number of items I can place on hold?
A.
A limit of 25 items may be on hold at any
one time on your card.
Q.
Is there a way to borrow a book that is not available through the Monroe
County Library System (MCLS)?
A.
Books
not available through MCLS, excluding paperback fiction and books
published within the last year, may be requested at the Reference Center
through Inter Library Loan (ILL). A non-refundable charge of
$5 for each request is to be paid at the time requested.
Payment does not guarantee the book will be received.

How can I find out what is on my library record?
A.
You may check your own library record from any patron computer in the
library or from your home computer: Log on to www.brightonlibrary.org
and click on My Library Account
or
you call
428-4455 from home.
Q.
Can I check my e-mail account when I am at Brighton Library?
A.
You may stop at any open Internet terminal, or make a reservation for a
spot using our reservation system.
Q.
Can I do word processing to use at Brighton Library?
A.
All Internet stations include the full Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel
and PowerPoint. You will need to bring a disc or flash drive to save
your work.
Q.
May I return library materials when Brighton Library is closed?
A.
You may use the drive-up, walk-up AV/book drop, located on the northwest
corner of the building, 24 hours a day. Items returned to the book drop
before the
libraryopens are discharged using the last date the
Library was open.
Q.
May I use my laptop computer at Brighton Library?
A.
You may use your laptop in the Library. If it is equipped with a wireless
card, you may request a password at the Reference Center and connect to the
Internet at no charge anywhere in the
library.
Q.
Can AV material be previewed at Brighton Library?
A.
You may preview DVDs, CDs, cassettes and videos at our Listening/Viewing
Stations by checking out the movie and a set of headphones at the Circulation Center.
Identification is required.

May I place library materials on hold from home?
A.
You may use LIBRAWEB to reserve items owned by the Monroe County Library
System by logging on to
www.brightonlibrary.org and click on Library Catalog and
Place a Hold, or you may call a library for assistance.
Q.
There is an item I would like that LIBRAWEB shows is at another library.
Can I pick up the item at that library and is there a charge?
A.
You may call that library directly or ask a librarian to call that library
for you. If the item is currently on the shelf, it will be pulled
for you to pick up at that library with no charge.

May I renew my library materials from home?
A.
You may renew library items that can be renewed.

Q.
Is there a photocopier at Brighton Library?
A.
There is a photocopier located near the Circulation
Center. Black & white copies are 20 cents per side; color copies are $1
per side.

Does Brighton Library have study/tutoring rooms?
A.
Brighton Library has two study/tutoring rooms that may be requested by
calling or stopping at the Reference Center.
Q.
Is there a meeting room at Brighton Library?
A.
Established non-profit groups may request the use of the Friends of Brighton
Memorial Library Learning Center. The policy and application are available
at the Reference Center and on our web site at
www.brightonlibrary.org

Does Brighton Library have services for the disabled?
A.
Brighton Library has an accessible entrance with ramps and power doors; a
lift available into the Learning Center; magnifiers; a one-on-one personal
assistive listening device; an induction loop for use in Learning Center;
programs signed for the hearing impaired with two weeks advance notice;
closed-captioned videos; a large print book collection; a walker with book
baskets; a wheelchair; and a Kurzweil 3000 with scanner, voice and large
print technology. The PIRS program (Partners in Reading for Seniors) is
available for homebound Brighton residents over age 60 by contacting the library.
