5x7xDesign Art Contest

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5x7xDesign is a juried, small-works exhibit that showcases the talents of students in grades 6-12 who live in or attend school in Brighton. Postcard-sized works in various media are submitted to the library for judging in the fall. Two works in various media are submitted to the library for judging. Two works may be submitted by each artist. Work is judged anonymously based on creativity, originality, technique, and composition by a team of art professionals. Prizes are awarded in two divisions: Junior (grades 6-9) and Senior (grades 10-12). The contest is sponsored by Friends of BML.

 

Our 2021 5x7xDesign Winners

Of the 350 submissions, fourteen students from Brighton area schools were selected to receive special recognition for their winning artwork in Brighton Memorial Library’s (BML) 20th Annual 5x7xDesign Teen Art Contest.

       Senior Division (grades 10-12) winners were as follows: First Place Alayna Meyer from Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women; Second Place Sorah Libman from Brighton High School; and Honorable Mentions Rabina Aqa Jan from Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women, Nora Babbitt from Brighton High School, Isabella Bondi from Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women, Ella Dunning from Brighton High School, and Maya Luehmann from Brighton High School. 

       Junior Division (grades 6-9) winners were the following: First Place Naveena Primo from Twelve Corners Middle School; Second Place Christopher Zaremba from Twelve Corners Middle School; and Honorable Mentions Paige Pappajohn from Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women, Daria Shalaeva Twelve Corners Middle School, Molly Tehan from Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women, Gillian Zawacki from Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women, and Amina Bennis, who is homeschooled. 

All of the artwork is on display at the library until the end of January.

 

Alice B. Wilson Literary Awards Contest

 

 

The annual contest is open to all students in grades 6-12 who live in or attend school in Brighton.  
Students compete in Junior (grades 6-9) and Senior Divisions (grades 10-12). Cash prizes are awarded in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry categories.  Entries are due by February 13, 2022.
Sponsored by Friends of Brighton Memorial Library and the Brighton Memorial Library Gift Fund.
